About This Project

The Currach Man | Kerry, Ireland

Height: 3.5 m. Built August 1996 in Ballyferiter, co.Kerry, Ireland out of 1,5 ton of white stoneware clay. The firing sculpture project was part of an international ceramic symposium arranged by Louis Mulcahy. The inspiration for the form and the construction came from among other things the local, traditional fishing boats, the currachs. It stood 5 years.
