About This Project

Sol og Måne | Sun and Moon | Middelfart, Denmark

Height 3m, weight 4,5 ton. Made in October 2004 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Museum of International Ceramic Art, Middelfart Denmark. The sculpture was built in the museum park. In the background is one of the big bridges of Denmark. The mass of clay rested, to a great extent, on seven pillars made out of piles of round disks of soft clay. The entire sculpture was made up of similar discs, which were folded and bent in many ways before being put in place. The sculpture was built and fired over ten days with assistants: Susanne Lyngsø¸, Michael Artmann, Kenneth M. Lauritsen, Line Skovlod, Nina Olesen and Tine Mortulach.
